7 Reasons to Trust God’s Word

Now, you women, hear the word of the LORD; open your ears to the words of his mouth.- Jeremiah 9:20

God’s Word (The Bible) is simply *His love letters to us*

It is the blueprint for His children’s lives. He didn’t leave us to figure the Christian life out all on our own. Thank goodness! Long ago, Here are seven reasons we can trust His Word- The Bible.

1- The Word is “God-breathed”- This means that He inspired men and used them, through His own Spirit, to write the scriptures. Before He inspired those men to write down His words, His voice existed even before them.

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV

“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.” John 16:13 ESV

“I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them.” Hebrews 10:16 NKJ

2- The Word is a Person- He IS “the Word”-

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life and the life was the light of men.” John 1:1-4 ESV

3- The Word is powerful- When you hear the Word of God or study it, you will find that you become different. When you apply His Word to your life and surrender to it, you will find that it truly does a miraculous work in and around you!

“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”Romans 10:17 ESV

“It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.” Isaiah 55:11 NLT

4- The Word will ALWAYS apply to people, no matter how the culture changes around them!-

“For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” Romans 15:4 ESV

5- The Word stays the same & NEVER changes (It will never go away)- I don’t know about you, but I’m thankful……….. that although there are many things I cannot be sure of, this is not one of them!

Heaven and Earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away.” Matthew 24:35 NIV

6- The Word keeps us from being deceived!– This is another reason we can trust the Word. It is completely honest with us. We may believe one thing because we feel pretty good about it, then we discover the TRUTH in God’s Word of how it really is.

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 ESV

7- It’s Words come true!– We can see that some events from the past that were predicted, like Christ’s birth, eventually came true!

“And we have something more sure, the prophetic word, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts, knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” 2 Peter 1:19-21 ESV

“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”- Isaiah 7:14 ESV

Likewise, more events from scripture are still in effect to take place, but haven’t yet! We know that it’s words will come to pass just like it has before.

“Here is a call for the endurance of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus.” Revelation 14:12 ESV
